Some moments in life mark a before and after. For me, the Ruta de la Sal Regatta wasn’t just a sailing adventure—it was a turning point, the beginning of my journey as a professional skipper and a passionate offshore sailor.
A few months after leaving my job at Hospital de Sant Pau and becoming a certified Yacht Captain, I joined the most iconic offshore regatta in the Mediterranean aboard a Bavaria 46. That crossing changed everything.

My first crossing to Ibiza
I remember it clearly: weeks before starting my professional sailing career, I joined the Ruta de la Sal as crew. I had no idea that the route from mainland Spain to the west coast of Ibiza would become one of the most powerful and life-changing experiences I’ve ever had.
From the first flap of the sails, the sound of the hull cutting through the waves, the adrenaline at the starting line, and the silent night sky full of stars… I knew I wanted to do this forever.
The sea as teacher, the regatta as revelation
Sailing among dozens of boats, sharing the deck with sea lovers, feeling that each nautical mile taught me something new… The Ruta de la Sal is more than just a regatta. It’s a human experience. A deep connection with nature, with the crew, and with yourself.
That journey gave me the clarity to pursue this life at sea. Today, years later, I’m fortunate to return to the same regatta—not as a beginner, but as a guide for others discovering this world from the comfort and safety of a modern catamaran.
